What our general privacy principles are

The use of this Website is usually possible without providing personal data.

If personal data (e.g., name, address, or e-mail address) is entered on this Website, it is always done on a voluntary basis. If so, your data, in compliance with the applicable national and European data protection regulations, is only processed and used to process your requests. Lakeside Labs GmbH maintains the confidentiality of your data and will not sell, rent, or make it available to third parties.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Lakeside Labs GmbH (or its provider) collects data about every access (server log files). Access data includes: Name of the retrieved Website, file, date and time of retrieval, amount of data transferred, notification of successful retrieval, browser type and version, the user’s operating system, referrer URL (the previously visited page), IP address and the requesting provider.

Lakeside Labs GmbH uses the log data only for statistical evaluations for the purpose of operation, safety, and optimization. Lakeside Labs GmbH reserves the right, however, to retrospectively review the log data if, based on concrete evidence, the legitimate suspicion of unlawful use exists.

Within this Website, it may happen that content from third parties, such as videos from YouTube, VIMEO, maps from Google Maps, RSS feeds or graphics from other Websites are included. This always pre-supposes that the providers of this content (hereinafter referred to as “third-party provider”) perceive the IP address of the users, because without the IP address, they could not send the content to the browser of the respective user. Thus, IP address is required for the presentation of this content. We endeavor to use only content whose respective providers use the IP address solely for the delivery of the content. However, we do not have any influence if the third parties save the provided IP address for e.g. statistical purposes. As far as we know, we will inform users about it.

Specifically, the following services are used:

WordPress.com Stats

Data Used: IP address, WordPress.com user ID (if logged in), WordPress.com username (if logged in), user agent, visiting URL, referring URL, timestamp of event, browser language, country code. Important: The site owner does not have access to any of this information via this feature. For example, a site owner can see that a specific post has 285 views, but he/she cannot see which specific users/accounts viewed that post. Stats logs — containing visitor IP addresses and WordPress.com usernames (if available) — are retained by Automattic for 28 days and are used for the sole purpose of powering this feature.

Activity Tracked: Post and page views, video plays (if videos are hosted by WordPress.com), outbound link clicks, referring URLs and search engine terms, and country. When this module is enabled, Jetpack also tracks performance on each page load that includes the Javascript file used for tracking stats. This is exclusively for aggregate performance tracking across Jetpack sites in order to make sure that our plugin and code is not causing performance issues. This includes the tracking of page load times and resource loading duration (image files, Javascript files, CSS files, etc.). The site owner has the ability to force this feature to honor DNT settings of visitors. By default, DNT is currently not honored.

Jetpack Protect

Data Used: In order to check login activity and potentially block fraudulent attempts, the following information is used: attempting user’s IP address, attempting user’s email address/username (i.e. according to the value they were attempting to use during the login process), and all IP-related HTTP headers attached to the attempting user.

Activity Tracked: Failed login attempts (these include IP address and user agent). We also set a cookie (jpp_math_pass) for 1 day to remember if/when a user has successfully completed a math captcha to prove that they’re a real human. Learn more about this cookie.

Data Synced: Failed login attempts, which contain the user’s IP address, attempted username or email address, and user agent information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this Website, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
