Lakeside Labs is a non-profit organization for scientific research and development of self-organizing networked systems, based in Klagenfurt, Austria, Europe. Our goal is to apply and improve methods of self-organization in the fields of IoT, robotics, production, transportation, and energy.

Lakeside Labs is located at the Lakeside Science & Technology Park, adjacent to the university campus and IT companies. We offer a nice working atmosphere in beautiful southern Austria close to the Lake Wörthersee – a place where others come for vacation.

We are committed to work-leisure-balance and gender equality. For most positions, we are flexible regarding the weekly working hours in the contract (20 to 40 hours/week). The business language for all scientific positions is English. Management positions also require very good German skills.

Die Lakeside Labs sind eine gemeinnützige Gesellschaft zur wissenschaftlichen Erforschung und Weiterentwicklung selbstorganisierender vernetzter Systeme mit Sitz in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee. Zur Stärkung unseres Expertenteams im Bereich des Forschungsmanagements suchen wir eine Junior-Forschungsmanagerin bzw. einen Junior-Forschungsmanager (Vollzeit 40h/Woche).

Hauptaufgaben

Sie arbeiten zunächst eng mit einem erfahrenen Forschungsmanager zusammen. Gemeinsam wirken Sie an der Entwicklung neuer Projektideen mit und erwerben vertiefte Kenntnisse in der Entwicklung, Akquise und Durchführung von internationalen Forschungsprojekten.

Besondere Aufgaben umfassen unter anderem:

Unterstützung der Akquise neuer Projektpartner für ein großes FFG-Förderprojekt
Einbindung von Klein- und Mittelbetrieben, Industrie und Forschungs- & Entwicklungs-Organisationen in wettbewerbsfähige nationale und internationale Forschungsprojekte
Unterstützung bei der Erstellung von Forschungsprojektanträgen
Stärkung unseres Netzwerks zu anderen Forschungseinrichtungen

Voraussetzungen

Sie haben einen Master- oder Doktoratsabschluss in Elektro- und Informationstechnik, Informatik, Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen, Physik oder einem ähnlichen Fach. Ausgezeichnetes Kommunikations- und Verhandlungsgeschick runden ihre vertriebsorientierte und eigenverantwortliche Persönlichkeit ab. Sie verfügen über sehr gute Sozialkompetenzen und eine Leidenschaft dafür, mit Menschen zu interagieren. Es ist von Vorteil, wenn Sie bereits Förderprojektanträge (mit-)geschrieben haben. Exzellente Englisch- und Deutschkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift sind zwingend erforderlich. Ein grundlegendes Verständnis betriebswirtschaftlicher Aspekte (Verwertung von Projektergebnissen, Marktpotenzialbewertung etc.) ist erwünscht.

Senior Researcher in Complex Systems Engineering
with Emphasis on Production Plants or Energy Systems

We are searching for a senior researcher (or researcher) to drive the development and integration of concepts of self-organization and swarming within European or national funded projects with different applications in the domain of production plants or energy systems. This comprises research in the field of distributed swarm algorithms, adaption of algorithms to application-specific requirements, as well as the integration of distributed intelligence. On top of this, you will acquire research projects with industry and other research institutions.

The candidate is expected to have a doctoral degree (or master degree for the researcher position) in complex systems, engineering, computer science, physics, or applied mathematics.

Experience in at least two of the following fields is mandatory:

Networks, network dynamics, graph theory
Distributed algorithms, swarm algorithms
Genetic algorithms, evolutionary design
Model-based development, agent-based modeling
Concepts and methods for production plants or smart grids

Experience all of the following skills is mandatory:

Good knowledge in Python
Very good English language skills

Experience in some of the following skills is welcome:

Simulation tools (e.g., Netlogo, Mesa)
Proposal writing for funding projects on national and EU level
German language skills

We are searching for a senior researcher to drive the development and integration of concepts of self-organization and swarming within European or national funded projects with different applications to edge/cloud computing, IoT, and cyber-physical systems. This comprises research in the field of distributed swarm algorithms as well as the integration of distributed intelligence. On top of this you will acquire research projects with industry and other research institutions.

The candidate is expected to have a PhD in engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, physics, or complex systems.
